This is Jon Fisher's bare bones home page, focused on vegetarian/vegan stuff. There are far more comprehensive guides to vegetarianism, such as Why Vegan? to provide some reasons for going vegan, the vegetarian starter kit put out by the Physician's Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) to provide a place to get started, etc. This is just a page for a few extra resources I find helpful. By popular request, this is a list of all of the recipes I make on a regular basis (click here to download in MS Word format). They are currently sorted by breads, breakfast, sauces, soups, desserts, and main courses. They range from very complex and gourmet to absolutely foolproof and quick; it should be easy to tell by looking at them how simple they are. Any recipes with red text are works in progress and do not come out well as written. I have cited the original sources of recipes that aren't original, but in almost all cases I have made modifications and improvements. At some point I may separate them out more, but for now just email me with any questions.

Some other sources for recipes online include the International Vegetarian Union's site which is sorted by regions of the world, Vegweb's recipe section is OK but definitely a mixed bag. Compassion Over Killing offers very simple recipes that have all been tested in volunteer kitchens, making them a great place to get started.

This is a guide to cooking with tofu that I wrote. It has information on different kinds of tofu, and different preparation techniques.

If you're strict about your vegetarianism, you may be dismayed to learn that many wines and beers are made with animal products. For more information, and some lists of which ones are vegetarian or vegan, try this page.

If you're looking for vegetarian food while traveling, it can be tough to find good places to eat. Happy Cow currently has the largest actively maintained listing of vegetarian restaurants worldwide. Google is a good resource if looking for a guide for a particular city, as most large cities have several competing guides. Be sure to call a restaurant before you visit to ensure it's still open! Oftentimes these guides are out of date.

If you're in DC, you can find an excellent vegetarian restaurant guide from Compassion Over Killing here.. To download a google earth map based on their data, click here, or use the embedded viewer below:

If you have an LG WM3431 washer, you may have discovered that due to its lack of a lint trap, your clothes start to take longer to dry over time. Here is a guide to how to clean the lint out of an LGWM3431HW.
